We sponsor Herne Bay FC Women as the main shirt sponsors. We took over their socials this season, and ramped things up!

The last few years there’s been regular posting on a closed Facebook group, and sporadic content posts on the Instagram account.
All the posts were inconsistent, and were all based on facts. We wanted to bring personality…

We started a TikTok channel at the start of the 2024 season.
One of the most key parts of this to be a success was the content to be driven by the players. We identified and built relationship with some key members of the team and provided a platform and encouragement, and they took it from there!

Within 3 months, the numbers speak for themselves.

Collectable player cards

After shooting a media day in July, collecting additional details about players, we used the shots and the extra data to design custom player cards.
We use these as a tool to encourage younger audiences to games, build the profile of the players, and drive connections into the community with local school assemblies and town engagement, giving out the cards. Alongside the marketing effort, the player cards have directly attributed to more families coming to games. 🎉 ⚽️

FA Cup channel partnership

Through our connections, we managed to build a relationship with the social content team for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup channel.
This enabled us to drive more content as collaborative reels, be featured on their stories and channels.
We also created multi-way content for the mens 1st team and womens’ 1st team at Herne Bay for the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying round, with over 8k likes on collaborative posts, and over 200k views of our collab video reels.

Templates & team involvement

With multiple women’s teams, and a large squad between them, creating designs for every game would only work with having a core set of templates that we could customise.
We designed a series of templates in Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma then pulled layered elements into Canva for the social team to work with.

We utilised a couple of players to get involved in matchday social posting, which was initially done in Canva, but moved to Adobe Express for easier and more pro content!

Digital accounting at the heart

As part of our sponsorship, we’re also the club accountant and implemented significant change early on.

  • We setup Crezco for a variety of payment transactions, and quicker invoice payments for sponsorship all hooked up to Xero
  • We purchased and setup a handful of SumUp machines for cashless turnstiles, and on the day payments for any part of the day running the club
  • We took the old spreadsheet accounting process into Xero and brought instant view of cash position and better handle of all finances across the committee
  • We setup and helped with budgets and planning
  • We setup digital receipts with Hubdoc, transactions with SumUp and Xero for club financial management

On top of this, we worked tirelessly to promote and communicate sponsorship opportunities at the club, and to date have raised more in sponsorship than the entire budget for 2023-24 season. We still are looking for more though!
